Olympic Overload

I have been watching the Olympics since the opening ceremonies. Have you?  My favorite sports to watch are diving, swimming, beach volleyball, gymnastics. My heart broke for Jordan Weiber. :( Bless her heart.

I haven't been up to much since the Olympics started. Hey, it only happens every four years. ;)

I can't imagine being the parent of an Olympian, can you? It would stress me out.

On to other random things this morning.  It's the last day of July. Here, school starts next week. Where did summer go?  Praying for teachers and students in their new school year. High school football starts in two weeks. College football 4 weeks. Y'all know I am ready for that. ;)

As summer is winding down, I am still looking for a house, I'm trying to decide my new Fall Bible study, starting to shop for Christmas, (I know, but this year, I want to enjoy the holiday and have the shopping done) planning our first football party, planned my upcoming 48th birthday, planning a Fall weekend getaway.

In our Sunday school class this past Sunday, I was teaching a lesson on Joseph and we were talking about Jospeh being imprisoned at the young age of 17 and one of the ladies mentioned that she would like to know what God was speaking to him during this time in his young life.

That led to talking about the Holy Spirit that lives in us and I suggested we do a study on the Holy Spirit. I walked into Lifeway yesterday and I found this:

I can't wait to start reading this book and I also bought another Stormie OMartian book, The Power of Praying for AYour Adult Children.

I found this on Pintrest this morning, wouldn't you love to sit on this porch with a good  book and something cold to drink?! Maybe I can find a house with a big porch. ;-)

Enjoy your day. :-)

Saturday

I like Saturday mornings.  We go at a much slower pace.  We slept in this morning and then we have enjoyed sipping on our coffee and I have also watched a little Christmas in July on QVC. :)

The yard will get mowed today, a visit to the parents, and a trip to the Farmers market for dinner tonight. I will look over my Sunday school lesson and anything else that comes along. Then again, none of the above (minus the yard and S.S. lesson) may not happen. That's the beauty of Saturday.

God has blessed us so much with a lot of rain this week. In fact, I went to sleep last night to the sounds of a thunderstorm. I love a good thunderstorm. Thank you God! Our yard is green again and has grown a ton this week.

This is a picture I took w/ my phone of our dog Daisy. She is in the Saturday mode. ;)

She has since moved over next to me. She seems content to lay around all day. lol

Have a wonderful Saturday!

House Hunters

House Hunters is one of my favorite shows.  My favorite part of the show is when they show the before/after pics of the house they end up choosing.

This is what I have been doing over the last few weeks. Looking at many houses. I haven't found one yet but I am praying and looking. :)

How is your summer going?  Here, school starts in August. I can't believe back to school merchandise is already out. Teacher's list are out at Wal Mart. I am sure if I think summer is flying by, teachers must really think that and the children. ;)

For me, I am enjoying summer and looking forward to fall. My most favorite time of the year. Of course it doesn't hurt that in some 47 days it's football time in Tennessee!!

Enjoy your Thursday and it's almost the weekend!  I am looking forward to watching Christmas in July on QVC this weekend. There are some cute things premiering this weekend. I am seriously thinking of starting my Christmas shopping soon. Buy a little here and there so I don't have it all to buy in December.

Saturday Randomness

I've got a busy day but I wanted to write a short post.

Did y'all have a good 4th? We had a quiet 4th. We grilled out and the food was delicious ; but half the family had to work and we were just lazy the rest of the day. It was too dry to shoot fireworks so we watched them on the television. Macy's has the best fireworks show.

My menu wasn't the traditional burgers and dogs. We made kabobs and corn on the cob and smashed potatoes. Don't our kabobs look pretty?

I love all the colors. Especially the orange pepper.

I am getting ready to watch the ladies final at Wimbledon. Go Serena!! Also, it's almost time for the Olympics. Are you going to watch? Go Team USA!

I told you this was Saturday Randomness and it is. My Aunt Shirley had a picture of our Nana on her FB page the other day. She died in 84'.  I love this picture of her.

She was strict with us but she was also so much fun. She had two sisters and the three of them loved to travel together. They drove from Tennessee to California one year and they had the best time. She loved God. She was the best grandmother and we miss her but we will see her again.

I saw this on my cousin's FB page but my older sister posted it.
Left to right: me, cousin Polly Anne, sister Donna. We were serving the rice at a family friend's wedding. Aren't we cute? lol

It was fun seeing these pictures from so long ago.  Last night, my family and I were watching tv and a AARP commercial came on and long story short, they said you could sign up from age 50 plus. My son started laughing at me because I will be 50 in 2 years. lol  Time goes by so fast. Hard to believe it wasn't so long ago we three were that small and now we are nearing fifty and eligible for AARP. lol

Okay, time to close this post.  It's going to be another scorcher today. Looking forward to next week with cooler temps and hopefully more rain.

Have a great Saturday!

Happy 4th!

I love this country.
I am thankful for being born and raised in this country.
I just finished reading a book by Chris Kyle...

My family was shocked I read this book only because I read Karen Kingsbury etc.. and this was so unlike me, according to them. ;)  I mention this book and the author of this book because it showed the true story of what our soldiers go thru fighting for our country, for our freedom. I am so very thankful for the sacrifices they make each and every day.

Tomorrow we will celebrate this great country that God has richly blessed. There will be parades and cookouts and boating, and swimming, and fireworks! My prayer is that our country will turn back to God. We need God. God is our only hope.

Enjoy your celebrations tomorrow! Half of our family has to work tomorrow so we will have a cookout early and maybe fireworks later that night when they get back home.

God Bless our troops. God Bless America!
